CardRoom.com makes every effort to ensure that your account information remains safe and secure. However, there are certain steps you can take to ensure that your information and account are accessible by you, and only you. Creating a strong password and staying alert to the possibility of online scams are essential not only when playing online at CardRoom.com, but anytime you conduct business over the internet. If you are concerned that your CardRoom.com account information may have been compromised, please email us immediately at support@CardRoom.com

Create a Strong Password

A strong password is a password that is difficult for others to figure out by guessing or by using automated programs. While it is important to choose a password that is easy for you to remember, if it can be quickly guessed by someone else, it is not secure.

To be strong, a password must:

  • Contain at least seven characters.
  • Combine three of the four different types of characters:
  • Uppercase letters (for example: A, B, C).
  • Lowercase letters (for example: a, b, c).
  • Numerals (for example: 1, 2, 3).
  • Symbols (´ ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = { } | [ ] \ : " ; ' < > ? , . ⁄).
  • Not be a common word or name, or a close variation.

To create a strong password that is easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to determine, try one of these techniques:

  • Merge two or more words, and combine words with numbers and symbols.
    • For example: I[Love]Cake, 7Six#3ers, BrickHouse=362436.
  • Take the first letter/number from each word in an easy to remember phrase.
    • For example: Mike and I met on a Saturday at the movies could become the password M+ImoaS@tm.
  • Use punctuation and numbers to combine the initials of people or objects from a familiar group, such as your favorite sports teams, friends, movies, books, or historical figures.
    • For example: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. could become the password 1FS,2DM,3SDJ.
  • Drop all vowels from a favorite saying, and then add numbers or symbols.
    • For example: Black coffee three sugars could become the password BlckCff3sgrs.

Important

  • Do NOT use one of the above examples as your password.
  • Do NOT use your first name, your e-mail address, or other obvious words, dates, and numbers, such as your birth date.
  • Avoid writing it down and placing it in an easily accessible location.
  • Never give out your password in an instant message conversation or share it with anyone else.
  • Do use a password that can be typed quickly, without having to look at the keyboard. This makes it harder for someone to steal your password by looking at your keyboard.
  • Do change passwords regularly.
  • Don't leave your computer unattended while you are logged on to CardRoom.com, especially if you're using a public computer.
  • If you suspect a security issue with your CardRoom.com account, you should report the issue to support@CardRoom.com immediately.

Avoid Online Scams

The most common online scam, phishing, is a fraudulent attempt to get your confidential information. These scams are usually through an "official-looking" email or website purporting to be an established business. These scammers typically ask for your login and password, or other information in an effort to gain access to your account. Remember, CardRoom.com will NEVER ask for your login, password or billing information via email or the website. Additionally while playing on the site, CardRoom.com Administration table chat is always indicated by the color red.

It's a good idea to keep the following in mind when reading about any online offer:

  • If you receive an e-mail or pop-up message that asks for personal or financial information, do not reply and don't click on the link in the message, either.
  • Use anti-virus software to keep your computer safe – update it regularly.
  • Avoid sending your personal or financial information via e-mail.
  • Review your account regularly for any unusual transactions.
  • Be cautious and use common sense in determining how much you reveal about yourself to others while online.
  • When entering account information through a website (e.g. NetTeller), always ensure that the page you are on is encrypted for your security.
  • Always verify the legitimacy of any offer, especially one that requires "immediate" action. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is a scam.
  • If you feel your account has been accessed without your authorization, immediately contact customer service at support@CardRoom.com.
