The CardRoom.com tournaments run similarly to the regular poker games
with a few minor differences. Unlike a ring game, each player is allocated
another thirty seconds, to act after receiving a time warning in the chat
window. This "Time Bank" allows players extra time to decide on a course of
action during a tournament and is depleted based upon usage during an event. For
every tournament, 1 second is added to each player's "Time Bank" after each deal
with a maximum of 30 seconds at any one time.
Another important aspect to the CardRoom.com tournaments is the
"Hand-for-Hand" feature. Immediately before players start placing "in the
money," the game will play each hand individually. This feature prevents
remaining participants from deliberately stalling the game to wait for other
players to be eliminated or "go bust" before them. For example, if a tournament
pays the top nine players and there are only ten remaining, each hand will be
played one at a time such that the table not involved in the hand will be in a
holding pattern until it is their turn.
In the actual tournament "Game Table" screen, the player can click on the
yellow "Stats" tab in the upper-left hand corner to get their current position
in the tournament, as well as the highest, lowest, and average stacks of the
other participants. The "Stats" tab will also provide specific quantitative data
about the player during that tournament.
Additionally, players can request a tournament history by selecting
"Tournament History" from the "Requests" menu in the main
"Lobby" screen.
About Tourneys
Ready to step it up? Enter a CardRoom.com Tournament. Similar to the regular poker games,
tournaments have a few differences you should be aware of:
Time: After receiving a time warning in the chat window, players will have an
additional 30 seconds to decide their move. This Time Bank is cumulative for the event,
and each players "bank" receives one second after each deal, with a max of 20 seconds
at any one time
Hand-For-Hand: In tournaments, a set number of top finishers earn cash prizes, or
"in the money." Immediately before that number of players is reached, the game will play
each hand individually, so that only one player can "bust" at a time, affording every
player an equal chance to finish "in the money"
Tournament Statistics: In tournament play, the yellow stats tab contains additional
information, including their current position in the tournament, as well as the highest,
lowest, and average stacks of the other participants
