Re-Buys

The Big One

Re-buys and Add-ons

Tournaments with re-buys and add-ons allow players to purchase additional tournament chips while the event is still running, according to specific restrictions. These re-buys and add-on tournaments are clearly labeled with a capital 'R' next to the buy-in amount in the Main Game Lobby and individual Tournament Lobbies.

Unless otherwise noted, the period in which players are allowed to re-buy ("Re-buy Period") lasts for one hour (30 minutes in C-SPeed™ events), from the start of the tournament until the first break. During this time, any player may purchase a tournament chip re-buy if their current stack is equal to or less than the starting amount for each player (generally 1,500 tournament chips). As such, a re-buy may be purchased as soon as you are seated at your starting table, even before the first hand is dealt. To request a re-buy, the player can click on the Cashier's Tray at the top of the table. This may be done at any time within the Re-Buy Period, even in the middle of a hand. However, tournament chip re-buys are only credited to your stack at the start of the subsequent hand following the re-buy purchase.

A player may purchase as many re-buys as he or she would like during the Re-Buy Period, provided that their current chip count qualifies them to do so. When players run out of chips during the Re-Buy Period, they will be automatically offered the opportunity to purchase a re-buy. A player will have thirty (30) seconds after running out of tournament chips to purchase a re-buy before being irrevocably eliminated from the tournament.

Players who possess more chips than the tournament starting amount and who attempt to purchase a re-buy will be informed that they are not currently eligible. Once the Re-Buy Period is over, after one hour (30 minutes in C-SPeed™ events) has transpired, no further re-buys are permitted.

At the commencement of the first break (typically one hour after the start of the tournament except in C-SPeed™ events where it is after 30 minutes) players are able to purchase a single add-on. Add-ons represent one final opportunity to purchase additional tournament chips, generally an amount greater than the starting chips allocated per player. Unless otherwise noted, the add-on shall comprise an additional 2,000 chips in a 1,500 starting chip tournament. For C-SPeed™ Re-buy Tournaments players will start with 1,000 chips, re-buys will add 1,000 chips, and add-ons will add 1,500 chips. Players may purchase a single add-on at any time during the first break period, (five (5) minutes) following the conclusion of the Re-Buy Period. Each remaining player may purchase an add-on regardless of his or her current chip count, even if they have accumulated more chips than the starting amount for the event.

Unless otherwise stated, CardRoom.com deducts a ten percent (10%) administrative fee from the gross total prize pool for all re-buy and add-on events, including satellites, with an entry fee of $3.00 or more, and fifteen percent (15%) for all re-buy and add-on events, including satellites, with an entry fee of $1.00. Generally, both re-buys and add-ons cost the same amount as the tournament buy-in. All subsequent re-buys and add-ons are contributed directly to the prize pool (minus the tournament's administration fee, if any). Since players may purchase re-buys and add-ons through the end of the first break period, the prize pool amount for the tournament will not be finalized until the add-on period is completed.
