Satellites

The purpose of a "satellite" tournament is for top qualifiers to be awarded "seats" into a larger "target" event. Since some CardRoom.com tournaments may have buy-ins of $100+$9, $200+$15 and even higher, satellites are a cost-effective way to get a seat into the bigger events by paying less upfront. Additionally, "satellites" allow players that qualify a chance to "pre-register" and secure a seat for a "target" event prior to the normal registration time.

The "prize pool" for a "satellite" is used to buy "seats" into the "target" event and any remainder after dividing the "target event's buy-in" into the "total prize pool of the satellite" is paid to the player that finished after the last "qualifier" into the "target" event. Players that qualify via a "satellite" into a "target" event can choose either to keep the "seat" and play in the "target" event OR trade in that "seat" for the "buy-in value" into the "target" event. Players DO NOT receive both a "seat" into the "target" event and the "buy-in". If for some reason a player is not able to, or does not want to play in the "target" event, they can unregister for the event and be refunded the "buy-in".

All you have to do is follow these simple steps to trade in your "seat" in a "target" event for its equivalent value:

1. Login to your account.
2. Click on the "Tourney" tab in the Main Lobby.
3. Find the "target" event ID#.
4. Click on that specific tournament to highlight it and if you have pre-qualified for that event, you will see your CardRoom member name in the list of registered players.
5. Go to the specific lobby for that "target" event by clicking on the blue "Tournament Lobby" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
6. Click the "UNREGISTER" button located in the upper right-hand side of the "Tournament" lobby screen, and you will be automatically refunded the buy-in cost.

If a player happens to qualify twice into the same "target" event, our system automatically credits the value of the 2nd "extra seat" to the player. Certain promotional satellites may prohibit unregistration from "target" events.
